about

"Mulbarton, originally was a pretty generic song, lyrically and over time developed to have more of a meaning in line with the themes of the EP as a whole. Starting with a canvas of a relationship that relied on forced attention and constant reciprocation is something we've all been through. There are certain parts of the song that subconsciously address domestic abuse and violence, which obviously are such vast issues, I think a lot of people can connect with that message, or at least recognise the subtext. I wrote this originally with the intention of having Alice lead, so we sat down together and she wrote the second verse, I'm unsure if her part of the song was in the same context as mine, but the idea if two collaborators telling different stories or possibly different sides of a story, was the effect we were going for."

lyrics

I'm tired of signing out,
I'm tired of hurting every time you open your mouth,
You pulled a rabbit out,
Assuming every thought you think is magic, how?

How how low, do you want me?
Did you ever really see a life with me?
Now so cold, oh did you see
That you never left enough room to breathe.

(Chorus)
She says that I'm gonna need someone to call me, a doctor, when it all gets too much for me,
But I swear that I'm already so divided, and tired, I think it gets too much to me.

(Oh oh, hey hey, oh oh hey hey) X2

Well now you think you've got your way,
Acting like your thoughts, aren't something you’d say,
Well I'd just look the other way, pretend that pouring your drink makes up for today.

How how low, do you want me, did you ever really see a life with me,
Now so cold, oh did you see, that you never left enough room to breathe.

(Chorus)

(Danny) oh oh hey hey, oh oh hey hey x8

(Alice) I can't even find the words to speak without thinking, said you're gonna, think you're gonna leave x4

(Chorus)

Oh oh, hey hey x4
